چکیده

The dynamic properties of water molecules coordinated to simple ions (alkali and alkali-earth halides) and hydrophobic ions (tetraalkylammonium (TAA) halides) in supercooled solutions have been investigated with KMR. The study of spin-lattice relaxation rates and self-diffusion coefficients as functions of temperature, pressure, Larmor frequency and concentration reveals characteristic features of molecular motions close to the lowtemperature limit of the metastable phase (percolation transition and glass transition) and provides certain details of the local arrangement of water molecules in the coordination sphere of these ions. The intramolecular flexibility of the alkyl chains of the hydrated TAA cations has been investigated also. The dynamics of the methyl group reorientation provide a sensitive probe of structural differences in these solutions.

Glasslike behavior in aqueous electrolyte solutions.

When salts are added to water, generally the viscosity increases, suggesting that the ions increase the strength of the water's hydrogen-bond network. However, infrared pump-probe measurements on electrolyte solutions have found that ions have no influence on the rotational dynamics of water molecules, implying no enhancement or breakdown of the hydrogen-bond network. Here, we report optical Ke...

A Liquid Inorganic Electrolyte Showing an Unusually High Lithium Ion Transference Number: A Concentrated Solution of LiAlCl4 in Sulfur Dioxide

We report on studies of an inorganic electrolyte: LiAlCl4 in liquid sulfur dioxide. Concentrated solutions show a very high conductivity when compared with typical electrolytes for lithium ion batteries that are based on organic solvents. Our investigations include conductivity measurements and measurements of transference numbers via nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and by a classical direct m...

Gadolinium-Diethylenetriaminepenta-Acetic acid Conjugated with Monoclonal Antibody C595 as New Magnetic Resonance Imaging Contrast Agents for Breast Cancer (MCF-7) Detection

Background: The monoclonal antibody, C595, against breast cancer cell line was conjugated with cyclic anhydride gadolinium-diethylenetriaminepenta-acetic acid (Gd-cDTPAa) to produce Gd-DTPA-C595 and used as specific breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).  Methods: After incubation of breast cancer cell line (MCF-7), with different contrast agents (G...

An Evaluation of Four Electrolyte Models for the Prediction of Thermodynamic Properties of Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions

In this work, the performance of four electrolyte models for prediction the osmotic and activity coefficients of different aqueous salt solutions at 298 K, atmospheric pressure and in a wide range of concentrations are evaluated. In two of these models, (electrolyte Non-Random Two-Liquid e-NRTL and Mean Spherical Approximation-Non-Random Two-Liquid MSA-NRTL), association between ions of opposit...
